In Sweden today there are about 300 hostels connected to the Swedish touring club. You can find them in trains, in lighthouses, on ships, apartment houses and in other unusual houses. Or like our house an old forest officers house.
Asgard was built in the 1920s as a forest officers house for Domanverket and worked like that til 1970s. After that different families have lived in the house before it became an office for Lanstyrelsens Fjallforvaltning, and in 1993 became a hostel.
My name is Karin and i have been running this hostel for 4 years, with some help from my boyfriend Mats and our children Mikkel and Lovisa. Family and friends have also assisted me when i needed help.
We are open all the year round but we try to get some time off around Christmas.
